Madlēna Ūdre (b. 1999) is a Latvian biodesigner, textile artist and photographer.
Having lived in Luxembourg for twelve years, she completed her secondary education there before beginning studies in Zoology at the University of Glasgow. Drawn toward more creative fields, she left after a year to finally return to Latvia to pursue design, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Material Technology and Design at Riga Technical University, followed by a Master’s degree in Fashion Design at the Latvian Academy of Art. However, zoology is never far from her practice; her work remains deeply informed by a lasting fascination with nature and biological systems.
Madlēna is currently active as a fashion photographer, leads embroidery workshops and is one half of the dream-pop duo saule-saule.
